Thomas J. Ciocco, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully with his children and grandchildren by his side. Born and raised in South Philadelphia, Tom was the son of Elizabeth (Trocolli) Ciocco and Joseph Ciocco. He grew up surrounded by family, tradition, and the tight-knit community that helped shape the man he became. He was preceded in death by his cherished sister, Loretta Ciocco Duckworth.
A proud graduate of Southern High School in Philadelphia, Tom went on to graduate college from the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences, where he earned a degree in Business. He pursued a professional path that led him to become a successful CPA, and later, a respected Chief Financial Officer. His sharp mind, strong work ethic, and leadership shaped a steady and successful personal life, grounded in loyalty, family, and deep community ties.
Tom's connection to South Philadelphia ran deep. He often shared stories about the close-knit neighborhoods and everyday life on "the block," reflecting fondly on the people and places that shaped his early years. Growing up across from Veterans Stadium through his teenage years, he became a devoted Phillies and Eagles fan for life.
The traditions of South Philly-Mummers Parades, generous holiday spreads, Friday nights at local restaurants, and Sunday Italian dinners-remained a meaningful part of who he was.
After moving his family "over the bridge" to southern New Jersey, Tom quickly became a pillar of the community. As president of the local recreation association, he devoted himself to youth sports and family programs, earning the affection of generations who knew him simply as "Mr. C."
Tom found joy in life's simple pleasures. He treasured the lifelong friendships he carried from South Philadelphia - his childhood crew and still his closest companions to whom he was known as "Tommy Cot". He was delighted with poker nights, casino trips, cheering on his favorite teams, cowboy classics like Bonanza, and the perfect sausage-and-pepper sandwich. Summers at the Jersey Shore brought him happiness, whether on the beach or boating. And though few knew it, Tom was a gifted "closet singer," with a special love for The Duprees - especially their timeless ballad, "You Belong to Me".
However, Tom's greatest treasure was his family. His greatest love story of his life began when he was just 13 years old. A South Philly boy and a West Catholic girl from Southwest Philadelphia. Tom met Rosemary Talbott, and from that moment forward, they were inseparable. Their 65-year love story was one of devotion, partnership, and unwavering commitment that left a legacy of three children and nine grandchildren who lovingly knew him as "Pop Pop."
Tom is survived by his three children and their spouses: Thomas T. Ciocco (Cindy Jaeger Ciocco), Scott J. Ciocco (Laura Hahn Ciocco), and Christa Marie Ciocco Fries (Vincent Thomas Fries). His nine beloved grandchildren: Marina, Tommy, Nicholas, Jacob, Carli, Rome, Vincent, Savanna, and Vienna.
Dad, you are now free to run the streets of Heaven and reunite with your parents. You are so loved, and you will be deeply missed. The traditions and values you built will continue to be present with everyone you touched wherever we go. Thank you for showing us so many places, for teaching us loyalty and partnership, grounding us in education, and for loving Mom with a devotion rare in today's world. You were-and always will be-our gem.
