Mary Capuano (nee Vassallo), age 94, of Hammonton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at her home.

Mary was born in New York City. In 1965, she moved to Freehold, NJ with her family, for a better life. While living in Freehold, Mary worked as a township municipal clerk for 30 years. After her retirement, she moved to Hammonton in 2006.

Mary was a woman of great faith and found comfort in her daily prayers. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren. Every family gathering was anchored by her warmth, and delicious, home-cooked Italian food.

Mary is predeceased by her husband, Francesco, her parents, Peter and Catherine (nee Drago) Vassallo, and her brothers, Joseph, Frank, and Benny Vassallo, and sister, Providence Taormina.

Mary is survived by her son, Frank Capuano (Suzanne) of Mt. Laurel, NJ, her daughter, Regina Schneider of Hammonton, NJ, and her grandchildren, Nicholas (Patricia) and Thomas (Lia) Capuano, and Robert III (Sarah) and James (Samantha) Schneider.

Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 9:30-10:30AM at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. Third St. Hammonton, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow and be celebrated at 11:00AM at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish - St. Joseph Church, Third & French Streets Hammonton, NJ. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 248 S. 1st Rd, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
