Obituary

Marjorie J. Avellino (nee Skinner) age 82, of Hammonton, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Cooper Medical Center in Camden, NJ.

Born and raised in Hammonton, Marjorie was a graduate of Hammonton High School, Class of 1961. She went on to attend Glassboro State College and later trained professionally as a Bell Telephone Operator. In 1964, she began her career at Ancora State Hospital, where she dedicated more than 20 years of service. Marjorie also worked alongside her family at the Skinner Glass Factory in Hammonton.

Her parents later owned and operated Skinner's Marina in Tuckerton, NJ where Marjorie and her loved ones learned the true meaning of dedication and work ethic. She cherished her time on the water, teaching her children how to boat and fish - especially in the boat lovingly built by her father.

Marjorie was a devoted mother who believed family was always the highest priority. Nothing lit her life more than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and more recently, her great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy came from the love and closeness she shared with her family.

She was predeceased by her parents, Robert Shaw and Sarah May (Dixon) Skinner.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Vincent Avellino; her children, Marjorie Sherrard, Vincent A. (Colleen) Avellino, and Joyce Kaine (Michael Simon); and her sister, Joyce Barrett.

She will be deeply missed by her cherished grandchildren: James (Rebecca) Sherrard, Christopher Sherrard, Vincent A. Avellino, Jr., Rebecca Avellino, Lucas Kaine, Liam (Leanne) Kaine, and Marlin (Natida) Simon; as well as her two great-grandchildren, Matthew J., and Charlie Grace Sherrard.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday November 28, 2025 from 9:00am-11:00am at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. Third Street Hammonton, NJ. Services will be held at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery 124 S. First Rd. Hammonton, NJ

Marjorie will be remembered for her devotion to family, her strong work ethic, her love of the water, and the warmth and kindness she shared with all who knew her.
