With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Julie Comunale (nee Christos), at the age of 69 of Hammonton, NJ, who died peacefully on the evening of May 31, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous eight-year battle with ovarian cancer.
Julie was born in Philadelphia on July 17, 1955. She was a lifelong resident of Hammonton, New Jersey, where she built a life rooted in love, resilience, and devotion to family. Julie began her career at the Public Defender's Office, but found her true home in the Hammonton School District, where she spent many years as the Administrative Secretary to the Superintendent. Along the way, she formed lasting friendships and left a meaningful mark on those she worked with.
Family was at the heart of everything Julie did. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, always present with love, support and unwavering care. She loved spending time with her friends, found joy in crocheting, loved rooting on the Phillies and Eagles, but her greatest happiness came from sitting on the sidelines, watching her grandchildren doing the things they love most.
She was the proud and devoted mother of three children; Ryan (Alyssa) Comunale, Krista (Jeff) Leach, and Megan Comunale. Nothing brought her more joy than being a grandmother to her cherished grandchildren Chase and Cole Leach and Mackenzie and Michael Comunale; each of whom held a special place in her heart. Julie's warmth and love extended even to her grand-dogs, Hoagie and Ertz who will also deeply miss her. She is lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings brother Paul Christos (Alicia Cruz), and sisters Judy (Scott) Miller and Margie (Steve) Coakley.
She is predeceased by her parents Thomas and Elizabeth (nee Ordille) Christos and her brother and sister-in-law Thomas W. and Beth Christos.
She will be remembered for her generous heart, her care for others and above all, her deep love and commitment to her family. Julie's spirit lives on in her children and grandchildren, and in all those whose lives she touched with her kindness, courage, and light.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life which will be held in Julie's honor at Tomasello Winery in Hammonton, NJ on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at 11:30. A lunch buffet will be served, and all guests are welcome to share memories or prayers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Julie's memory to the Hammonton Cancer Foundation PO Box 1066 Hammonton, NJ 08037.
