John A. Lucca, age 90, of Boca Raton, FL, and formerly of Hammonton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in Florida.
Born and raised in Hammonton, John was a proud graduate of Hammonton High School. After graduation, he began his career as a merchant sailor with the Atlantic Refining Company in Philadelphia, PA, where he served for seven years, including two years of active duty with the U.S. Navy Reserves.
Following his time at sea, John began a long and dedicated career with the U.S. Postal Service. He joined the Hammonton Branch in 1960 as a rural route driver and served the community faithfully for over 30 years until his retirement in 1990.
John was predeceased by his beloved parents, Albert and Annie (née Macri) Lucca; his sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Alden Troxell; and his niece, Linda Brennan. He is lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Diane T. Smith, Michael Troxell, and David Troxell, as well as many grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and their families.
John will be remembered for his quiet strength, lifelong work ethic, and deep devotion to his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday May 22, 2025 from 9:30 -10:45am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish-St. Joseph Church Third & French Streets Hammonton, a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11am. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery 248 S. First Rd. Hammonton, NJ.
