Obituary

Joan M. Flynn (nee Sheehan) age 82 of Marmora, NJ passed away on Tuesday August 11, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA, grew up in Drexel Hill PA settling in Ocean City, NJ. Joan was a graduate of Immaculata College with a BS in Biology. Joan was a microbiologist, teacher, and office manager at L.O. Thomas & Co. Joan's most beloved role was that of mother of her four children. She loved baking, hosting holiday dinners, and spending time with her grandchildren, creating cherished memories around the table and with family. Joan spent her later years involved with her local senior center, the Blind Center of the Jersey Cape, and was a proud member of the Red Hat Society.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, George and Kathryn Sheehan. She is survived by her husband, William Flynn Sr.; her children, Heather Bryant (Wayne), Stephanie Holbrook (Aaron), William Flynn Jr. (Amy), and David Flynn (Kelly); her brother, George Sheehan Jr.; and her sisters, Kathryn Connell, Meg Martin, and Michele Sheehan. She was the loving Nannie of 13 grandchildren and great-grandmother of five, with one on the way, along with many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at St. Augustine Church St. Damien Parish 1337 Wesley Ave, Ocean City, NJ 08226 from 9:30am-10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00am at the church. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery 5061 Harding Hwy, Mays Landing, NJ 08330. Luncheon to follow at Blue Heron Pines.
