Obituary

Grace Arena (née Reitano), 93, of Voorhees, New Jersey, formerly of Hammonton, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Ciel Senior Living.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Grace graduated from the Philadelphia High School for Girls in 1950. She married Frank D. Arena in 1953 and, in 1958, moved to Hammonton, New Jersey, where she raised her family. For many years she worked as an accounting clerk for Atlantic City Electric.

Grace was predeceased by her loving husband, Frank D. Arena; her parents, Charles and Nancy Reitano; and her three dearest friends, Peggy Tomasello, Frances Cleary, and Annetta Crowley.

An avid reader of contemporary novels, Grace traveled widely-to Spain, Italy, Morocco, Disney World, and across the United States-with her husband, family, and friends. She was a longtime member of the Hammonton Swim Club, remaining a familiar and constant presence there for forty-five years. She appreciated the arts and found joy in museums, concerts, and lifelong learning.

Grace believed strongly in the importance of education and was a steadfast source of encouragement to her children, inspiring them to pursue their studies and strive for academic excellence. She possessed a warm, lighthearted spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. She had a genuine love for people, and her kindness and cheerful nature endeared her to friends, family, and caregivers alike. Grace maintained a positive outlook and was deeply grateful for the many blessings in her life. Her optimism and appreciation for others touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her daughter, Josele A. Finney, and her husband, James W. Finney; her son, John C. Arena, and his wife, Iryna; and her three beloved grandchildren, James F., Daniel J., and Marissa Grace Finney.
