Giovanni Alessi

January 29, 1958 — August 1, 2025

Giovanni Alessi age 67 of Atlantic City, NJ and formerly of Hammonton, NJ passed away suddenly Friday August 1, 2025.

He was the beloved son of Italian immigrants who came from Messina and Umago respectively in 1956. He graduated from Holy Spirit High School in 1976 and went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from Seton Hall University in 1980.

Giovanni worked in the hospitality industry for many years in notable Atlantic City establishments, including the Comedy Stop, Mississippi Steak and Seafood, and Il Verdi, among others. He was currently employed by Filomena Cucina Rustica.

Giovanni is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Rina Maria Zacchigna Alessi. He is survived by his children, Stefanie Alessi, Joseph Alessi and his wife Eleanor, Kate Bergen and her husband John, as well as his sister Anna Melinda and her husband Jeff Bowman. He is also survived by his former wife, Tracy Wendell, with whom he remained friends. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Jase, Maverick, and Giovanni.

Giovanni will be remembered as a loving and devoted father, who always showed up for his children and grandchildren with a smile on his face and wisdom to impart. He enthusiastically shared his many passions such as sports (Let's Go Mets!), progressive politics, Bruce Springsteen discography, and his cacio e pepe recipe. With his warmth, wit, and calming presence, he had a talent for adding levity and mindfulness to any situation.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Celebration of Life on September 6th at Filomena Cucina Rustica, at 1:00pm (13 Cross Keys Rd, West Berlin, NJ).
