Derek Alexander Thame, age 23, of Hammonton, NJ passed away September 25, 2025.
Derek was born in Bridgeton, NJ and graduated from North Port High School in North Port, FL where he was a member of the JROTC. He then went on to serve in the United States Navy, stationed in San Diego, CA, on the USS Carl Vinson. At an early age Derek worked alongside his Poppop Gary helping with well drilling and water osmosis. Derek loved to fish and play video games, as well as surf when he was stationed in San Diego. He had a smile and laugh that could light up a room, and touched the hearts of everyone and made anyone he met into a friend.
We honor his legacy everyday by keeping him in our hearts and, in doing so, becoming a reflection of what he stood for.
He is survived by his parents John and Sandra Thame, brothers Dr. Gabriel Hemighaus and Joel Thame, and sisters Jacqueline Thame and Erica Durham (Presley). Derek is the loving grandson of Janet Greico (nee Blandino) and the late Gary Greico, the late Paul O. Stites Sr. (Vicki), and the late Victor and Bettye Thame. Derek is the nephew of Paul O. Stites Jr. (Kelle), Carol Thame, Hedley Alexander Thame, and the late Victor and Mark Thame.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Tuesday, Octopber 14, 2025 from 9:00-11:00am, with funeral services to follow at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N Third St. Hammonton, NJ 08037.Burial will follow with full military honors in Oak Grove Cemetery 500 N. White Horse Pike Hammonton, NJ 08037
