David A. Caccia, age 91 of Hammonton, NJ, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
David was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and graduated from Drexel University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the Army Reserves from 1954 to 1959. He married Pam in 1964 and designed and built their first home in Barnsboro, NJ. It was here that he began his career as a sculptor, creating works for the Edgar A. Poe House in Philadelphia, PA, Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor, NJ, Cooper River Park, NJ and Houghton College, NY, among others. He also served on the Mantua Township Environmental Commission and was a Wildlife Rehabilitator, working especially with birds of prey. He raised orchids and was a member of the American Orchid Society. He had a passion for sailing and owned several boats throughout his lifetime, sailing on the Delaware River, Chesapeake Bay, and Barnegat Bay.
In the early 1990's, they moved to the Big Island, Hawaii, into a home that he also designed and built. Here he began wood turning as a hobby and took up kayaking on the Pacific Ocean. By 2010, they retired to Hammonton, NJ. David continued with his sculpting and wood turning and enjoyed biking and caring for his lovebird, Dandy.
David is survived by his loving wife, Pauline "Pam" (nee McNutt) Caccia, his children Rebecca (David) Bechtel, David C. (Pamela Sherbrooke) Caccia, and Glenn (Rachael) Caccia. He is the loving grandfather of Nathaniel (Celenia) Bechtel, Curtis Bechtel, Julia Bechtel, and Gabriel Caccia. He is also survived by his sister, Gloria Caccia. He is predeceased by his parents Alan and Dorothy (nee Fox) Caccia.
Family and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Victory Bible Church, 816 South Egg Harbor Road Hammonton, NJ 08037.
