Barbara C. Sacco (nee Mendolia), age 96, of Hammonton, NJ, passed away peacefully with her family by her side. She was born in Hammonton where she met and married her neighbor and the love of her life, Frank, on June 24, 1951.
Barbara was first employed at her father's butcher shop, then went on to sew button holes at Kessler Shop. Later she was employed by Frank's sister and her husband at their deli...Mazzagatti's Cold Cuts. This led to her becoming the owner of her own deli...Sacco's Cold Cuts where she spent every day, especially holidays, in the kitchen preparing meatballs, countless pounds of potato salad, macaroni salad, and other delicious foods for which she became well known until she retired in 1991.
When she retired Barbara enjoyed babysitting, baking, shopping, bus trips to the casinos, and listening to music as well as attending live music events. Once she was blessed with grandchildren and great grandchildren her interests expanded to include lunch outings, dance recitals, soccer games, T-Ball games, vacations at the shore, Disney and especially game night. Game night always ended in laughs whether it was playing Rummy, Pokeno or Uno. She also enjoyed listening to her favorite drummer and having her hair done by her best-loved stylist.
Barbara is predeceased by her husband Frank and parents Guiseppe (Joseph) and Giovanna (Jennie) Mendolia. She is also predeceased by her sisters Dolly Kennish, Pauline Lagrotteria, Anna LaRosa, Rita Mauriello, Marie Natale and her brother Anthony "Butch" Mendolia.
She is survived by her daughters Debbie Graziano (Ralph), Sharon Sacco (Andreini), Barbara Sacco (Anthony "Bubby") and Donna LaSassa (Dennis). She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Jennifer Aloisio (John), Chris Graziano, Michael Andreini, Catherine Andreini, Anthony Sacco (Lindsay), Frank Sacco (Amanda), Steven Sacco (Marika Pham), Danielle LaSassa (Josh Olive), Jenna LaSassa (Brian Leon), David LaSassa (Jessica), Dennis LaSassa (Morgan) as well as her great grandchildren John (J.R.) Aloisio, Anthony & Mason Sacco, Frankie & Ava Sacco, Leonardo Sacco, Dennis, Charlotte, and Vincent LaSassa, Aria & Nora Leon, Juliana and Harper LaSassa. She will also be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews especially Marie Mauriello Jeffcoat whom she loved and considered her fifth daughter.
Special thanks to her niece Colleen Esau for everything she has done for the family throughout this difficult time.
