Obituary

Anthony J. Puleo, age 95, formerly of Mt. Laurel and Cherry Hill, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Born in Hammonton, NJ, Anthony, or "Sonny" as he was known by his family, moved to Philadelphia as a young child but always looked forward to returning to Hammonton to spend summers with his grandparents. It was there that he learned the simple things in life: how to swim, how to ride a bike, and the value of hard work.

Anthony graduated from South Philadelphia High School for Boys in 1948 and was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After being discharged, he received his bachelor's degree from Temple University on the GI Bill, becoming the first in his family to graduate from college, and met Anita Babore, whom he married in 1960. The two settled in Willingboro, NJ, and raised their family. Always technologically savvy, Anthony enjoyed a long career as a data processing analyst for the State of New Jersey and especially looked forward to playing pinochle with his co-workers at lunchtime.

After Anita lost her battle with breast cancer in 1983, a chance encounter at a widows and widowers support group led Anthony to Andrea Kimball, with whom he received decades of loving companionship. Together, they enjoyed traveling, volunteering, and spending time with family and friends.

Anthony is predeceased by his parents, John and Philomena (née Morro) Puleo and his wife, Anita (née Babore) Puleo.

Anthony is survived by his son, Mark Puleo, and his wife, Martha; his daughter, Valerie Marr, and her husband, Kenneth; his grandson, Nicholas, and his wife, Elizabeth; his granddaughters, Adriana and Olivia; his sister, Joann Amato, and her husband, Fiore; his longtime loving companion, Andrea Kimball; her son, Howard Kimball, and his late wife, Lisa; her daughters, Laura Hoffman and Sheri Greenblatt, and their husbands, Jason and Rand; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Anthony's viewing on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish St. Joseph Church, Third & French Streets, Hammonton, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, 500 N. White Horse Pike, Hammonton, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anthony's name to the Alzheimer's Association or Susan G. Komen.
