William Joseph Jones

William J. Jones, age 83 of Galloway Twp, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

He was born in Philadelphia and lived in many different areas from Pennsylvania to Florida, but always talked about his time in North Carolina.

He was an Operating Engineer and a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers 542 out of Philadelphia. He also had other business interests at different times of his life including owning a hotel in Absecon, NJ, and owning a dry cleaning business in Florida, where he was referred to as the George Jefferson of Daytona Beach.

He is predeceased by his parents Raymond and Mayonna Jones, son William Jones, Jr., and brothers, Raymond Jr. and Kenneth Jones, and sister-in-law Patricia.

William is survived by his sons Timothy Jones (Marie), Christopher Jones (Jennifer), and Shawn Jones (Nicole), along with his brother Patrick Jones (Jeannie) and sister Marcie (Larry) Carter. Loving grandfather of Sydney, Ryan, Kate, Noah, Kyle, Darby, Julianna, Hope, Jack, and Sawyer, and great-grandson, Dayton.

Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation Friday, April 19, from 1-3 p.m. at the Marinella Funeral Home, located at 102 N. Third St. Hammonton, NJ. A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m.

The family wishes to thank his two friends and helpers, Sue and Cathy, and the doctors and nurses of AtlantiCare for the great care they gave him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the AtlantiCare Foundation.
