Phyllis (nee Chiappine), 85, of Hammonton, passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. Born in Winslow, she graduated from Lower Camden County Regional High School in 1948. Upon graduation, she worked at Suburban Gas until her marriage. Phyllis was an active community volunteer in Hammonton, where she lived most of her life. For several years she was the chair of the Kessler Hospital Ball; she also chaired a PTA drive to collect coats for underprivileged children and was a den mother for the Cub Scouts. Phyllis enjoyed an active life>Always a forward thinker, Phyllis opened one of the first aerobic studios in the area in the early 1980s. She lived joyfully and fearlessly, never missing an opportunity to put more love into the world. Phyllis will be remembered for her unconditional love for and pride in her family and friends. She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Dominic "Tip"; three loving sons Donny and wife Tracey, Steve and wife Debbie, and John and wife Gigi; grandchildren Christina Dillon (Drew), Matthew, Erin, and Zachary; and brother Frank Chiappine (Ada), brother-in-law John Calderone, and sister-in-law Rose Chappine of Hammonton, as well as sisters-in-law Mary Jane Short of Vero Beach, Florida and Laura DiDonato of Hammonton. Phyllis is predeceased by her parents Frank and Carmela Chiappine, brothers Tony, Joe, and Lee, and sisters, Julie DeStefano and Rosalie Calderone. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Sunday, October 16, from 6-9 p.m. and Monday 9-10:30 a.m., at the Marinella Funeral Home, 102 N. 3rd St, Hammonton, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish, St. Joseph Church, 3rd St., Hammonton. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hammonton. Donations may be made in Phyllis's memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry, c/o St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish, 226 French Street, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
