Lawrence P. Delaney

Lawrence age 82 of Hammonton, passed away Sunday Nov.16, 2014. Born in Pittston, PA, he was a graduate of King's College where he also received his Master's degree. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and traveled throughout Europe. He began teaching at Hammonton High School in 1964 and retired in 1991 as an English and Social Studies teacher. He coached baseball and basketball at Hammonton High School. Larry was a volunteer at St. Joseph's Food Pantry, St. Martin de Porres Bingo and Hammonton Soup Kitchen. He was a member of the Canoe Club and Hammonton Senior Citizens. Larry enjoyed gardening, cooking and riding his bicycle. He is predeceased by his parents, Lawrence B. and Sophie, his sister Blanche McGuiness, brother Gerard Delaney and his infant brother. Larry is survived by his wife Shirley (nee Resavy) of Hammonton, his children Lawrence F. Delaney of Hammonton, Denise Delaney (David) of Atco and Loriann Simpson of Williamstown. Dear brother of Mary Snyder of Pittston, Pa. Loving grandfather of Christian, Petty Officer 3rd Class, US Navy, who was his pride and joy. Also many loving nieces and nephews and six adoring granddogs.
A viewing will be held Thursday 6:00 pm - 8:00pm at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. 3rd St. Hammonton. Another viewing will be held Friday 10:00-11:00am at Our Lady of the Eucharist Church 535 North Main St. Pittston, Pa. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00am at the Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Cemetery 535 Main St. Pittston, Pa. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Voorhees Animal Orphanage 419 Cooper Rd. Voorhees, NJ 08043.
