Gordon D. White

Gordon D. White, age 61 of Hammonton, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012, at AtlantiCare in Pomona, NJ. Born in Corning, NY, Gordon graduated from California State University in California, PA, where he was a member of the Student Activities Association (SAA), the Financial Secretary of Student Congress and President of the SAA Board of Directors. Gordon also received the Who's Who Among Students for outstanding merit and accomplishments. He relocated to Hammonton in 1974 and taught for 35 years at the Hammonton Middle School. He received the Teacher of the Year Award in 2001-2002 and the Governor's Appreciation Award in 2002. Gordon retired in 2009. Gordon established the Middle School Bowling League and a Co-Advisor for the Middle School Leo Club Association. He served as President of the Hammonton Education Association, was on several negotiating teams, was a Building Rep. and also held various other association positions. He was a past president of the Hammonton Lions Club, Lion of the Year and Financial Secretary. Gordon enjoyed traveling with his wife, brother in law and sister in law, gourmet cooking, the Couples Dinner Club plus playing the penny slots and blackjack at the casinos. Gordon is predeceased by his father Raymond White. Surviving is his wife of over 39 years Stefanie(nee Junker), his children Melissa Silipena and her husband Edward II of Mays Landing and Geoffrey White and his wife Jamie of Old Bridge, mother Naomi White of Painted Post,NY, brother William White and his wife Janis of Bath, NY, brother-in-law Lance Junker and his wife Andrea of Fayetteville,Pa. Loving grandfather of Eddie and Mia Silipena and Gabriel White. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday 6:00-9:00pm and Friday 10:00-11:00 am at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. Third St. Hammonton. Service will be held at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery White Horse Pike Hammonton, NJ. Donations may be made to the Hammonton Education Foundation P.O.
