Eugene D. Patterson, age 82, of Atco, NJ passed away Monday March 1, 2010 at home. Born in Rochester, PA he lived in Atco since 1983. Gene graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College, during his college years he played semi-professional baseball for several barnstorming teams. He received his M.A. in Education from Temple University. Gene taught and coached for Lower Camden County Regional High School District-- Overbrook Regional High School, Edgewood Regional High School, and Wayne Hills H.S. retiring in 1983 from Wayne School District. After his retirement he taught at Mullica Hill Friends School. Gene also served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Gene is predeceased by his parents W. Slentz Patterson and E. Mae Patterson, his brother Robert Patterson and sister Charlotte Steffen. Gene was the husband of Dorothy A.(nee Durborow), loving father of Anne E. Patterson Hong and her husband Samuel of Pittsburgh, PA, brother of Lois Wilke (Robert) of Florida and Margaret Black of TX, brother-in-law of Jean Patterson and Emil Steffen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Fri. eve 6:30-8:30 pm at the Marinella Funeral Home, 102 N. 3rd St., Hammonton, NJ. Another viewing will be held Sat. 9:15-10:00 am at The Presbyterian Church at Hammonton, 326 Bellevue Ave., Hammonton, NJ 08037. Sevices will follow at 10:00 am at the church. Burial will be in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Lambertville, NJ.
