David L. Lord, Sr.

January 11, 1932 — August 4, 2022

David L. Lord, Sr. age 90, of Hammonton, NJ passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022 surrounded by loving family.

David was born in Binghamton, NY to Raymond and Helen Lord.  He spent much of his youth in Bergen County NJ before living in Kentucky and then settling in Hammonton NJ. During this time he served his country as a member of the 50th Armored Division, US Army National Guard.

He was a member of the New York Otsego – Central Leatherstocking Lodge #138.  David was past master at MB Taylor Lodge #141 FM&A in Hammonton, NJ and held the role of RWM in 1978 and 1996. He was an avid motorcyclist into his 60’s and enjoyed many long trips on winding roads in the Northeast with his friends.  In his younger days he was an accomplished amateur boxer and competed in Roller Skating Pairs Dance.

David’s love for music was insatiable up to the very end of his life. So much, that he became a very accomplished radio DJ working in Kentucky and then many years in New Jersey working in Trenton and Atlantic City.  His knowledge of radio was vast and while living in Hammonton, he helped build the local radio station.

His love of music and entertainment channeled David to become very active in live theater while in the Lodge.

David loved being a grandfather and would completely spoil his grandchildren with anything they wanted at any time, this included handmade milkshakes (he was a soda jerk in the 40’s) well after midnight.  He also loved his wife’s cooking; so much that one night while her sauce cooked on the stove it beckoned them to have a meal of spaghetti at 2:00am!

He is predeceased by his wife Jean C. Lord (nee Panarello) and his brothers Richard Lord and Curtis Lord.

David is survived by his daughter MariaElena Lord-Miranda (Michael), his sons, David Jr. (Marie), James (Lisa), and Matthew (Alicia), his eight grandchildren, his brothers Terrence and Patrick and his beloved nieces and nephews.

Cremation and services will be held privately.
