Charles J. Errera, Sr. age 92 of Mullica Twp. NJ passed away Tues. August 6, 2013 at his home. Born and raised in Rosedale, Winslow Twp. NJ, he graduated from Hammonton High School in 1939. Chuck served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a Corporal during WWII. He received the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and American Victory Medal along with One Service stripe. He was stationed at Tonopah Air Force Base in Nevada.
After his military service he started Shore Way Garage in Mullica Twp with his wife Imogene.
He was a fireman at Ancora State Hospital for over 10 years and later worked for the state of NJ at Glassboro State College (Rowan University) in charge of the Motor pool and grounds equipment. He was a member of the Elwood Volunteer Fire Co. Station # 160. He was a member of the Rosedale Gun Club where he was one of the original members and known for his antics. He loved the game of baseball and coached many teams both in Hammonton and Egg Harbor City. Predeceased by his wife Imogene ( nee Pahde ), brother Dominick Errera and sister Stella Sarappa .Surviving are his children, Charles J. Errera, Jr, William Errera and his wife Rebecca, and Shirley Weeks and her husband Gary. Loving grandfather of Karen Schroeder, Peter Weeks, Samantha, Sage and Sydney Errera and one great-grandson, Beckett Weeks. Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Friday 7:00 - 9:00 pm and Saturday after 8:30am at the Marinella Funeral Home 102 N. 3rd St. Hammonton, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday 10:00am St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Parish - St. Joseph Church 3rd & French Streets Hammonton, NJ. Burial will be in Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery 109 Rt. 50 Estell Manor, NJ. Donations may be made to Elwood Vol Fire Co. Station #160, PO Box 223, Elwood, NJ 08217.
