Anthony Scott Hunt

July 25, 1984 — August 18, 2022

Anthony Scott Hunt, age 38, of Weymouth Township.

Ant never wanted to be defined by his short-comings, he was so much more than that.  But the chains of addiction that bound him, took him from us in the early morning of August 18th.   There is no question; he wanted to live.  He had dreams, ambitions, good intentions, and many talents. He loved his daughter, Josi, and his entire family. Everyone should know he deeply wanted to make things right.

Ant was born in Atlantic City on July 25, 1984.  He attended elementary school in Mullica Township before transitioning to EHT for middle and high school. Anthony enjoyed playing baseball and street hockey where he established lifelong friendships. He graduated in 2002. Anthony developed a passion for electronics and photography, especially seascapes.

These passions led him to a talent for vehicle and marine electronics; allowing him to use his talent as a career and spend time at the ocean, one of his favorite places.   He loved music.  He kept notebooks of song lyrics that he always intended to put to music and often posted thoughtful song lyrics on social media to share with friends.  He had an amazing sense of humor, his turtle smile could make anyone smile back. He made friends easy, but he had a core group of friends that no matter what happened yesterday, today was a new day full of love. Anthony recently admitted to his addiction and sought help. He completed detox and a 30-day rehab program. He received support and guidance from the rehab center, social services, and his family and friends. Following successful completion of the program, he was doing well in a sober living house and even secured two jobs in a week’s time. He was trying to make amends, get back on track, and get back to Josi. It didn’t matter. It didn’t matter how much support he had, how much we loved him, or how good his intentions were, drugs do not discriminate between rich and poor, the loved and the unloved, the social butterflies and the introverts. We are still here, writing an obituary for a 38 year old son, brother, father, nephew, cousin, and friend.

Anthony was predeceased by his father, David K Hunt, his maternal grandparents, Pee Wee and Mary Jo Perrone, his great-grandmothers Jessie Spitler and Marie Gallo.  All of which loved him immensely and provided great memories, support, and strong family values for him.

He is survived by the love of his life, his daughter, Josi (her mother Jessica and brother Jackson Wilson), his devoted mother Denise (Mike) Massey, his loving sister Nina Lemelin and loving brother James Massey.  His paternal grandparents, Jerry and Cheri Hunt.  His Aunt Kathy (Lou) Pantalone, Uncle Tony (April) Perrone and Uncle Tracy Hunt are just the beginning of his large family and many friends that he considered family that loved him unconditionally and that he loved in return.
